How a small decision can turn your life around

Life is full of seemingly unimportant decisions. Where to eat tonight? What to wear today? When can I make time to exercise? What topic should I choose to write on? We are all faced with simple choices day-in and day-out. Sometimes however, we're faced with choices that aren't so trivial. Sometimes we're faced with a real fork in the road, where your decision can change the direction of your life. Your future can change with a choice.

Is today the day that I make the decision to change? Is today the day that I make good on my promise to be different? Is today the day I try something new? Counseling is a catalyst for change, and while the decision to try it may seem significant, in reality it's another simple choice. Do you want to change yourself or your life? The decision to enter into counseling is an intentional choice made by the participant to alter his/her life. Sometimes people enter therapy because they're depressed and they don't know where to turn. They feel trapped and feel like no one understands them. Sometimes people reach out because they're angry and they don't like the person they've become or they way they treat the ones they love. Sometimes people are struggling with anxiety and feel overwhelmed or out of control. Sometimes couples realize they're drifting apart or feel like they can't have a conversation without fighting.

People from all walks of life are coming into therapy to change their lives. They're coming in because they want something different for themselves or those they care about. They're making a simple decision to change, to turn their lives around. They have a desire to be different and are making the choice to do something about it. Calling a therapist is a small decision, but one that can truly be life changing.
